Holding both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Art Eduaction from Miami University, Ellen has been teaching at the Worcester Art Museum for 23 years as a part time instructor, primarily in the youth programs. She brings a wide range of experience to her students, having worked in both public and private schools and with a variety of special needs students.
In her own studio work, she paints with watercolors and sculpts using mixed media and fiber. An artist and educator, Ellen Donaldson brings a wealth of experience working with a variety of students to her classes at the museum. A strong background in child development gives her the ability to relate objects in the collection to themes of particular interest to her students, tapping their enthusiasm to generate excitement for making their own art. Working with children at Shrewsbury Montessori School and as a resident artist with Very Special Arts Massachusetts allows her time to also pursue her own drawing, painting and mixed media work, which she exhibits locally.
